After working in the insurance industry on the carrier side and then as insurance brokers, the founders of Caduceus Worldwide recognized that there was a need for medical services by people with different circumstances.

In some cases, people just have no insurance.  As long as the medical treatment is not emergent in nature, individuals can travel to different countries to receive care.

In some cases people have insurance, but the insurance does not cover a particular procedure.  Typically, this applies to procedures like cosmetic surgery, bariatric surgery for weight loss, experimental treatments and fertility treatments.

The founders also recognized that self-insured employers are interested in supplementing their benefits program with medical travel as a cost saving measure.  Since most procedures can be done for less money overseas, self-insured employers can offer medical travel as an option for the employees.  The employee saves money through incentives to have services done overseas and the employer saves by paying less for the service and not having the procedure count against their experience.

With changes in the health insurance market of the United States, Caduceus Worldwide anticipates that more people will be interested in care overseas as they find their coverage does not offer protection for some services or waits to have procedures are unreasonable.
